Types Of Metal Framed Sunglasses

If you are one of those who love venturing outdoors, sun-specs are an essential accessory for you. They can actually protect you eyes from the damaging ultraviolet rays as well as reduce the glare of the sun. Thus, these eye wears are ideal to defend your eyes from the various sun-related eye problems. These days, you can have a wide variety of sunglasses options to choose from. However, it is the metal framed sunglasses that have become immensely popular over the years.

These types of eyeshades are made from the wire of varying gauges. The wire is either flattened to the thickness or left rounded depending on the individual style. The following are some of the common metal framed sunglasses:

Nickel Silver: These are the low-end metal framed eyeglasses. They are made by combining copper, nickel and other alloys. They are made into wire and are pressed and tempered and finally being electroplated to varying treatments and colors. You need to treat these frames properly with the anti-tarnish coatings.

Aluminum and Magnesium Alloys: There are some metal framed sunglasses are made by combining aluminum and magnesium alloys while they are in a molten state. The alloy is then poured into stainless steel molds to create a frame which is corrosion free, durable and lightweight. These frames are also very stylish.

Stainless Steel: These are lightweight and durable metal framed sunglasses and are considered as higher end products. They are made of iron carbon and around 10.5% chromium. Generally, these frames are very flexible as they are constructed of a thin wire. Moreover, these kinds of eyeshades are corrosion and rust resistant.

Monel: These types of eyeshades are made by combining several metals like copper, nickel, manganese, iron and some amounts of other alloys. Though these frames are as strong as steel, they are very lightweight. These types of metal framed sunglasses are also corrosion resistant.

Titanium: Titanium is the most expensive material used for making frames. These metal framed sunglasses are strong as well as lightweight. In fact, sun-specs made from this particular material have the highest strength in comparison to any other materials. Though most of the companies claim to use 100% titanium, they actually use a titanium blend. Such eye wears are non-corrosive, hypoallergenic and stronger than steel. The process to extract and refine this material is quite difficult and hence such frames are expensive. The colors of titanium frames are generally elaborate and have a matte finish. They are even resistant to chlorine and sea water.
